Dancing Shiva is a growing Tantra monastery/retreat center. It is a graduate school for Tantrikas & yogis. And it needs a gathering space for yoga!!
Dancing Shiva was established by Rudolph Ballentine, MD (now Swami Ravi Rudra Bharati) to pass on the teachings on yoga and Tantra that he received from his teacher, Swami Rama, it hosts workshops, retreats, and on going courses.
Dancing Shiva has hosted groups of 30 to 40 – praying that the rain did not wash away our outdoor yoga classes. (So far lucky! But we are in the mountains of western North Carolina, an area famous for its copious rainfall…)
We need a large indoor space to do yoga and to conduct even medium size workshops….so…..we found Smiling Woods Yurts a company that supplies kits for permanent, sturdy, timber-framed yurts that can comfortably hold 30+ people for yoga.
We have selected a yurt 35 feet in diameter, it will have a 15 foot ceiling at its highest point and a round skylight inside the central structural ring to flood the space with light…as well as multiple large windows and a crescent shaped deck on the south side to access the winter sun.
